2026 Global Innovative Climate Finance Awards Now Open for Applications

Prestigious awards to recognize world-leading achievements in climate finance, carbon market governance, and inclusive green transition

April 1, 2026 – The 2026 Global Innovative Climate Finance Awards officially opened for applications today, marking a significant milestone in the post-WSIS+20 review era. Endorsed under the framework of the WSIS+20 Forum and aligned with the UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/80/173, the awards celebrate global excellence in digital-driven climate finance, carbon market standardization, and sustainable development.

The awards will be presented on July 6, 2026, during an official WSIS side event—the Innovative Climate Finance & Investment High-end Roundtable Forum—at the ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

Four Distinguished Award Categories

The 2026 edition features four authoritative categories designed to recognize leadership, institutional innovation, individual contribution, and multilateral cooperation:

  • A. Distinguished Leadership Award – For top decision-makers driving strategic innovation in climate finance and low-carbon transformation.

  • B. Institutional Outstanding Achievement Award – For organizations, financial institutions, and technology platforms excelling in carbon asset management, ESG digital governance, and green industrial empowerment.

  • C. Individual Outstanding Achievement Award – For practitioners, researchers, and technical experts advancing climate finance practice and ESG disclosure.

  • D. Multilateral Climate Cooperation & Developing Economy Empowerment Award – For initiatives supporting South-South cooperation, digital just transition, and bridging the global climate investment gap.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Applications are open worldwide to individuals, enterprises, financial institutions, technology organizations, academic bodies, and international cooperation entities with verifiable, innovative achievements in climate finance, carbon markets, ESG systems, or green investment. All submitted cases must demonstrate industry innovation, practical value, social impact, and sustainability benefits.

Evaluation and Review Process

The review follows a rigorous multi-stage mechanism jointly organized by the United Nations Global Leadership & ESG Programme (UNGLEP), the Social Impact Investment Foundation (SIIF), and international co-sponsor expert committees. Evaluation criteria include innovation, practical contribution, social and global impact, sustainability, and leadership influence.

The awards are hosted by UNGLEP, U.A.E 2031 Global Strategic Partnership, and SIIF, with co-sponsorship from the Global Ecological Sustainable Development Union (France) and the ESG Committee of the Multinational Corporation Carbon Neutrality 50 Forum (MNC50).
